Hello there! I\u2019m JodiMarie.<\/strong> I\u2019m obsessed with fantasy worlds, and I write character-driven love stories. I enjoy happy endings, but I also love exploring the dark side of human nature, so sometimes my stories can only manage bittersweet ones. I live in Maryland with my husband, dog, and rabbit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Did I set out to be a romance writer? Not at all.<\/strong> I entered a Creative Writing program in 2012 with the single grandiose goal of being a novelist and very little real knowledge of what that would entail. I was terrified of attempting the romance genre until, in a wave of post-grad depression, I decided to write some fanfiction about my favorite couple to keep my writing skills sharp. Five failed novels and a countless amount of fanfic later, here I am. And here you are! Thank you so much for checking out my website.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

My favorite genres to read<\/strong> are fantasy, historical, dystopian, gothic, thriller, and romance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

My two favorite books<\/strong> are All Quiet on the Western Front<\/em> by Erich Maria Remarque and A Thousand Splendid Suns<\/em> by Khaled Hosseini.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Some authors who have inspired me<\/strong> over the years are Meg Cabot, Brian Jacques, Suzanne Collins, Olivie Blake, J.R.R. Tolkien, Holly Black, Marissa Meyer, T. Kingfisher, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Meg Smitherman, and V. E. Schwab, among countless others.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

And if we want to go back<\/strong> to my preteen days…we have to talk about all the Victoria Holt romance novels I stole from my grandmother\u2019s bookshelf. Thankfully, those were heavily censored!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
