Podcast Ep. #16: Setting Sustainable Goals
As I start to write this episode, I’m sitting in a coffee shop at the end of a truly exhausting week of adulting. There are plenty of valid reasons why I could not be writing anything right now, but I’m crazy (and mercifully caffeinated), so here we are. I want to talk about setting sustainable… Continue reading

Podcast Ep. #15: Giving Up on a Dream
Today, I would like to talk about giving up on a dream. I don’t know why I want to talk about this so badly, but it’s something I really struggled with in my early to mid twenties, and I feel like it could be relevant for a lot of people. Let’s start this with a… Continue reading

Podcast Ep. #14: How to Fail at Writing a Novel, Part VI
Welcome to my last episode on novel writing fails! Finally! We reached the end of this angsty saga (kind of, I’m still working on my first novel). But yes, my first novel that I am currently revising. I’m writing the second draft, not the first. Yay! How did I reach this point? What mystical magic… Continue reading

Podcast Ep. #13: How to Fail at Writing a Novel, Part V
Today is the fifth episode in my series on novel writing fails. Last week, I talked about a vampire story and a college rom-com that I worked on at the start of 2020. This week I will be talking about a grim reaper story I first had the idea for at the end of 2020… Continue reading

Podcast Ep. #12: How to Fail at Writing a Novel, Part IV
Welcome! Today is the fourth episode in my series on novel writing fails. My third, fourth, fifth, and sixth attempts all began in 2020. I had taken three years off from writing original material at that point and had been writing pretty much exclusively fanfic except for the occasional song or poem. But finally my… Continue reading

Podcast Ep. #11: How to Fail at Writing a Novel, Part III
Today is the third episode of my series on novel-writing fails. In this episode, I will still be talking about my second novel attempt because during the last episode, I only addressed the reasons behind why I wrote it. Now let’s talk about what I actually wrote. There were some big picture issues with the… Continue reading

Podcast Ep. #10: How to Fail at Writing a Novel, Part II
Today is the second episode of my series on novel-writing fails. And I’m going to go ahead and give a trigger warning for this episode. I will talk a fair bit about mental illness because it relates to my personal story: specifically, schizophrenia, anorexia, binge-eating, and the hospitalization thereof. If you need to skip over… Continue reading

Podcast Ep. #9: How to Fail at Writing a Novel, Part I
I have seriously tried to write a novel six times in my life, and I failed the first five times. I’d like to believe that I have learned something from those failed attempts, however, and that they were not a total waste of my time. Since I am currently on my sixth attempt, working on… Continue reading

Podcast Ep. #8: Why Fanfic?
Since as of now I’ve finished far more fan fiction than I have original material, I thought I would share how I got into writing that, how it has helped me grow as a writer, why I think it’s great, and what it has taught me about the value of all creative endeavors. I’ll start… Continue reading
About Me
JodiMarie Meyer enjoys toeing the line between the mundane and the magical and exploring the dichotomies of good and evil; she primarily writes love stories, but not always. Definitely someone who got in trouble for daydreaming in class. Definitely someone who scribbles frantic story notes while stirring pasta. She makes her home in the Maryland countryside with her husband, dog, and rabbit. She is the author of one short story collection: magic/madness. Her debut novel, Luc & Lila, is scheduled to be released in March 2025.
